About Kiku Matsuri
Kiku Matsuri, also known as Choyo no Sekku, is one of Japan’s five seasonal Go-Sekku festivals, traditionally celebrated on September 9. The chrysanthemum, a symbol of longevity, dignity, and nobility, holds special significance in Japanese culture. A 16-petaled chrysanthemum even adorns the imperial family crest. Cultivated in Japan since its introduction from China in the 8th century, the flower remains a revered icon.

The Art of Ikebana
Ikebana, meaning “living flowers” or “giving life to flowers,” is a distinct Japanese art form that emphasizes asymmetry, empty space, and harmony between the materials, container, and surroundings. Unlike conventional flower arranging, ikebana focuses on simplicity and balance to evoke a deeper connection with nature.

About Ikebana International
Ikebana International is a global non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and appreciating the art of ikebana. It brings together people of many nationalities who share an interest in ikebana and other traditional Japanese arts, without focusing on any single school of ikebana.
