Memory and Monument-Making: Repairing our Racial Karma.  How do the makers of monuments today conceive of memory, especially when memorializing difficult historical events? Together the Japanese American Confinement Sites Consortium (JACSC) and the Japanese American National Museum (JANM), the Ito Center will host a conference bringing together leading figures in memory and monument work who focus on racial and religious exclusion and trauma affecting myriad communities in the US and around the world. All who are interested in monument-making and memory work from a comparative, multicommunity, and international lens are welcome.

We hope that you will join us! JANM has arranged for a limited block of rooms that can be booked at a reduced rate at the Miyako Hotel across the street from JANM.
