The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth is gearing up for the annual Modern by Moonlight Otsukimi Festival Event. The Otsukimi, or Tsukimi, Festival - which translates to “moon-viewing” - is an annual Japanese festival that happens in autumn in time for the Harvest Moon.  This event primarily attracts adults and individuals who wish to attend and savor fantastic music, relish cocktails, indulge in Japanese cuisine, and explore the museum during nighttime hours.

Ticket pre-sales will begin on August 4 in conjunction with First Friday and Anime at the Modern.

In 2022, it sold out with 600 guests.

In Japan, Otsukimi Meaning
Otsukimi (お月見) or Tsukimi (月見) is a traditional Japanese festival that celebrates the beauty of the full moon. "Otsukimi" literally translates to "moon-viewing," while "Tsukimi" means "moon-viewing" in a more general sense. The festival is typically held in autumn, during the full moon of the eighth month of the traditional Japanese lunar calendar, which usually falls in September or October of the Gregorian calendar.

Museum staff collaborated with the president of the Japan American Society of Dallas-Fort Worth to ensure the event stands out and complements existing Otsukimi celebrations in the area.
