The Japanese Student Association invites students to enjoy free bento, origami and more from 5-6 p.m. Thursday, April 27, on the Old Main Lawn. In the possible event of bad weather, it will be held in Holcombe Hall. In Japan, spring is a time to appreciate nature and enjoy food with family and friends. We will be having egg sandwiches, spaghetti, Japanese fruit sandwiches and other traditionally prepared foods. Students can pre-register for bento, but registration is not required.

About Tanabata
Tanabata, also known as the star festival, is a major Japanese festival celebrated on July 7 to commemorate the day two star-crossed lovers unite. A common tradition is to write wishes on colorful paper and hang it on a bamboo tree, in hopes that it will come true. On April 27, students will have the opportunity to experience this tradition firsthand and make their own wishes.

This event is supported by the Student Activities Fee as a funded event by the Associated Student Government and is free to all currently enrolled University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, students who pay the student activities fee. This event is held in a venue that meets ADA standards. Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend this event. If you require a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this event, please contact Soumya Chauhan, [email protected], 479-202-1073, by five business days prior to the event.
