Little Tokyo. Join us for a delicious day in historic Little Tokyo celebrating the legacy businesses of our community!
The Annual 'Delicious Little Tokyo' Food History Tour Event" is an educational walking and food tasting tour that takes place in Little Tokyo Japantown. It takes place in Little Tokyo - a neighborhood in downtown Los Angeles, California, known for its rich Japanese American history and culture.
During the event, participants have the opportunity to explore the neighborhood, learn about its history, and sample a variety of delicious food from local restaurants and eateries. The tour is designed to showcase the culinary diversity and traditions of the Japanese American community in Little Tokyo.
The event aims to provide participants with a deeper understanding of the cultural significance of food within the Japanese American community and the historical context of Little Tokyo. It combines elements of history, culture, and gastronomy to create an immersive and educational experience for attendees.

Summary
The 9th Annual Delicious Little Tokyo is a one-day event celebrating the food culture of Little Tokyo in Los Angeles. It will be held on May 4, 2024.
Walking and tasting tours: These tours will be led by experts and will take you to some of the neighborhood's longest-standing restaurants where you can sample their food. There are three different tours offered:
• Nom Nom Nihonmachi (self-guided, 1-3 pm)
• J-Town Munch & Lunch (self-guided, 1-3 pm)
• Food History Tour of Little Tokyo (guided, two sessions at 2-3 pm and 3:30-4:30 pm)
Workshops: Learn how to make traditional Japanese foods like miso balls and sesame sweets, or emoji-shaped bread. There are also workshops on whisky and spirits tasting.
Little Tokyo Food Tours
1) Non Non Nihonmachi: 1-3pm: Enjoy a self-guided walking and tasting tour of Nihonmachi (Japantown) and pick up a delicious menu of savory favorites, as well as a limited edition drawstring backpack commemorating the 140th anniversary of Little Tokyo, and a Little Tokyo enamel pin. More Info
2) J-Town Munch & Lunch: 1-3pm: Enjoy a self-guided walking food tour of Little Tokyo featuring some tasty favorites of the neighborhood like yakisoba and chicken karaage. Tour guests will also receive a limited edition drawstring backpack commemorating the 140th anniversary of Little Tokyo, and a Little Tokyo enamel pin.
3) Food History Tour of Little Tokyo: 2 - 3pm: Take a stroll back in time to learn about Little Tokyo’s rich food history! Join us for an educational walking and tasting tour led by Bill Watanabe and Mike Okamura of the Little Tokyo Historical Society (LTHS) highlighting the history of some of Little Tokyo’s longest standing small businesses and culinary favorites such as imagawayaki and shabu shabu. From the birthplace of the fortune cookie to the first ramen noodle shop in the United States, these sites were integral in the making of our Little Tokyo community and Japanese American food landscape that we know today.
4) Hands-On Workshops: Stay tuned for limited experiences including miso ball making and whisky tasting! Space is limited so stay tuned for the ticket launch announcements on our Go Little Tokyo e-newsletter and Instagram!
5) J-Town Bingo: Our FREE and favorite neighborhood exploration game is back! Learn about J-Town’s history and support local businesses to get “bingo” and a chance to win prizes including popular food products and LT merchandise!
6) Go Little Tokyo Pop-Up Shop: Support the Little Tokyo Community Council and our projects like Delicious Little Tokyo by shopping for our Little Tokyo enamel pins, tote bags, and more!
