Yokai Family Weekend
People in Japan cool off on hot summer nights by telling stories of yokai - ghosts, spirits, and mythical creatures. Learn all about yokai in this all ages weekend event at Shofuso! Families can participate in a scavenger hunt and collect trading cards of tsukumogami - household objects come to life. Listen to kamishibai tales of ogres, water imps, and goblins, craft a yokai to take home, and watch a movie!
All activities are free after regular admission.
Scheduled Events
• Tsukumogami Scavenger Hunt: Follow the clues and find real objects around Shofuso which inspired yokai myths
• Kamishibai: Experience Japan’s classic paper theater style of storytelling with slightly-spooky stories
• Crafts: Make a teru teru bozu or decorate your own fox mask
• Movies: See classics including Yokai Monsters: Spook Warfare and The Great Yokai War inside of Shofuso
