Japanese paid respect to nature and lived in co-exist with it.  That way of life is formed from Shinto. Why do Japanese visit shrines on New Year’s Day, and practice other life rituals? These questions, and many others can be answered with a knowledge of Shinto. Simply put, we can say Shinto is the foundation of Japanese culture.
