A Taste of Obon.  Buddhist Church of Stockton Obon.  
The Stockton Obon Festival held at the Buddhist Church of Stockton is a vibrant celebration deeply rooted in Japanese culture and Buddhist traditions. Taking place annually, this one-day event on a Saturday and is a highlight of the local community.

The festival is a joyful gathering where families, friends, and visitors come together to commemorate and honor ancestors through dance, music, food, and various cultural activities. Obon is a significant Buddhist tradition that originated in Japan and is observed to honor the spirits of ancestors who are believed to return to the earthly realm during this time.

The Buddhist Church of Stockton will be holding its annual Japanese Food Festival Bazaar and Bon Odori on the weekend. It's a great place to take your family and friends and enjoy live entertainment and delicious foods.What kind of entertainment? How about taiko drums, various martial arts, traditional Japanese odori dance, Hawaiian music and dance, even ukelele. What kind of food?  Tempura, chicken teriyaki, kushiyaki, sushi, spam musubi, grilled oysters, Tokyo Dogs, deep fried oreos, gyoza, curry rice, somen noodles, udon noodles, chow mein, Japanese pastries, hamburgers including the famous Yamanaka burger, corn on the cob, sno-cone, iced coffee.

Back by popular demand - BINGO! Games for the kids. Have a green thumb or better yet, don't have a greeen thump? We have a large selection of plants to take home so come find a plant at our plant booth. There is a lot going on.
