2023 Annual Enmanji Buddhist Temple Event - Week 2: Obon Odori Dance Only (Saturday)NEW

This year’s Bon Odori will take place on Saturday July 15 th starting at 7pm. It will be open free of charge to our community and to the general public. Udon will now be a larger portion for $8/bowl to all, complimentary only for the Taiko group and Ensohza Band. As usual, some people will likely do their own “tailgate” food set-up. Masks are optional to individual preference. Distancing outdoors is as you are able.

We plan to do about 8 dances before the Sonoma County Taiko “halftime” performance, and 8 dances at the end (including one new dance we learned this year!).

We have confirmation from 3-4 community members that they can assist in helping dress dancers in yukatas but you will need to provide/arrange for your own outfit and accessories. Dancers who need help dressing in yukatas are asked to arrive around 5:30pm and will be assisted on a “first come, first served” basis on the  hall stage. We are so fortunate and grateful for this community support! Hapi coats are always an option!

There will be dance practices on Wednesday 7/12, Thursday 7/13 and Friday 7/14 from 7 to 9pm in the community hall.

Enmanji Buddhist Temple has two weeks of events in July. Week 1 is there Teriyaki Bazaar. Week 2 is the  Odori dance. Look below on how it is organzied.

Refreshments are available: Udon, cupcakes, soft drinks, coffee, and the BWA sells Imagawayaki cakes.
