Come join Christine Inouye and Minyo Station as they present an evening of Japanese classic folk dance and music on Friday evening 6:30PM to 8:00PM at The East LA Civic Center, 4801 E. Third Street Los Angeles, CA 90022.

For many Japanese, minyo dance and music involves a nostalgia for real or imagined home towns and family; hence the saying common among practitioners and fans of the genre: "Folk song is the heart's home town" "Min'yō wa kokoro no furusato" Folk dances are participatory and usually performed during celebrations for a bountiful harvest or catch. Many of the prefectural dances are identified by the movements such as rowing a boat, pulling in the nets from sea, planting rice or harvesting a successful crop.

Wear comfortable clothing and shoes for this JAM session.
