The Annual Concord Japanese American summer festival event, located at 3165 Treat Boulevard.  The event will include live demonstrations and displays of Japanese culture and heritage. Displays such as Bonsai (miniature tree sculptures), calligraphy and Ikenobo, (flower arrangements), will be provided. Live demonstrations will include several groups performing Taiko (Japanese drums), Judo, folk and classical Japanese dancing, and Kendo (Japanese swords), are scheduled throughout the two day event.

Japanese food and beverages are also available for purchase including tempura, udon, gyoza, chicken and beef teriyaki, sushi and sake. The proceeds from the celebration helps support the non-profit organization, which in turn supports the many affiliated cultural clubs that reside at the Japanese American center.

Admission is free to all, with free street parking. Parking is also available at Ygnacio Valley High school, located at 755 Oak Grove Road, with a free shuttle provided.

Background
The JA Club Summer Festival Event is the annual fundraiser for the Japanese American Religious & Cultural Center (JARCC). It is a very popular and highly anticipated event for many in the community and elsewhere throughout the East Bay.

The Summer Festival is typically held the second weekend of August.

There are games for the kids.  There are cultural performances, exhibits and demonstrations.  And, of course, there is the food!  Some of the things Festival visitors can enjoy include the following below.
