Class Description
Come and learn the powerful art of�Taiko (Japanese drumming) with�SacramentoTaiko Dan!�Taiko
is a comprehensive art form that includes elements of music, dance, martial arts, theater, and team sports. No experience is necessary. We will cover everything from the history of the art form to learning entire songs. Students will also learn about the Japanese culture and its values of respect, spirit, perseverance, and teamwork. All classes are held at our dojo at 2121 Blumenfeld Drive. Wear loose comfortable clothing and bring a bottle of water. Fee: cash or check only please.

Teacher Bio
Kristy Oshiro: Kristy is an artistic staff member of�Sacramento Taiko Dan and has over 18 years of�Taiko experience. Her training began at age 9 with Kona Daifukuji�Taiko in Kona, Hawai'i. From 2001-2007 she toured professionally with Portland�Taiko in Oregon. Kristy
has a Bachelor's Degree in music performance in percussion from Portland State University and teaches�Taiko workshops at the Northwest RegionalTaiko Gathering and the North American�Taiko Conference. She also tours nationally and internationally with Jodaiko and Taikoza.
