The annual Ginza Bazaar & Obon Festival takes place in SF Japantown (Octavia St btwn Pine and Bush) and features a traditional Japanese American food court, games for all ages, cultural exhibits, craft boutique, silent auction and more. Saturday afternoon cultural performances include kendo (Japanese swordsmanship); and Kamishibai, a form of Japanese storytelling, presented by the AACP Bookstore. Sunday features the traditional Obon Dancing on Octavia Street, led by dancers in kimonos and happi coats, all are welcome to join in!� The dancing is part of a Buddhist remembrance ritual, an appreciation for those who came before, and reminder to live joyfully in the present.

Enjoy the Ginza Bazaar's special recipe teriyaki chicken, fabulous sushi, BBQ short ribs, hearty curry,homemade baked goods and a new tea salon. Children's games, family bingo, a new youth video lounge, and shopping for all at the craft boutique and silent auction's variety of Japanese art objects and other novelties.

Presented by the Buddhist Church of San Francisco at 1881 Pines St. at Octavia in SF Japantown.
