2024 San Francisco Bon Odori on Octavia Street (Started 1932, One of the Largest & Oldest Obon Festivals in US) San Francisco Buddhist ChurchNEW

The San Francisco Buddhist Church will be holding its Annual Bon Odori Event in July. Sunday there will be an O-Bon dance. O-Bon dance is a Japanese Buddhist folk dance performed outdoors with dancers colorfully dressed in happi coats, yukata, and kimonos. It is also a time to remember and honor all those who have passed on before us. All are welcome to attend the event and participate in the dancing.

July 1, 3, 8, 10, 12, 15, 17, 19 in the BCSG Gym (Enter on Octavia Street).  7:30 - 9 pm

July 21, 2024, Sunday.  Obon & Hatsubon (first obon after passing) Service, 10 am.

July 27, 2024, Saturday.  Bazaar in the BCSF Gym (enter on Octavia Street), 2 - 7 pm.
Featureing BCSF chicken and Chirashi rice. Pre-order by July 21 - limited quantity.
Plus Food, bingo, Kids' Games, Minister Q&A, and Temple Tour, Silent Auction and more. 

July 28, 2024, Sunday. Small Bites Food Concession in the BCSF Garage. (enter at 440 Austin Street), 10 - 1pm.
Spam musabi, Boba drinks, hot dogs & Daruma dogs, Baked goods and more. 
1:00 pm - 1:30: Bon Odori "Dancing for Joy" on Octavia Street.

August 4, 2024, Sunday.  Intro to Buddhism, 11:30 am.  Class by Resident Misnister Rec. Melissa Opel. Attend the Sunday serveice at 10 am and stay for the class.
