Two of Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirror Rooms are currently on view at The Broad. Each room can be seen at no additional charge. A separate reservation is required for Infinity Mirrored Room - "The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away (2013).

1) How to See Infinity Mirrored Room - "The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away"
Notice: This installation is a mirror-lined room with flashing LED lights that you physically enter with a door that closes behind you. If you are uncomfortable with flashing lights and/or enclosed, dark spaces, please bypass this experience.

Obtain an admission ticket (either a free general admission ticket or a special exhibition ticket) by booking online on The Broad’s website, or by joining The Broad’s onsite standby line in the morning (the earlier, the better), and enter the museum. For the best chance to view this Infinity Mirror Room, make your ticket reservation for a timeslot in the morning or in the very early afternoon.

Once inside the museum, visit the iPad kiosk in the lobby to join the first-come, first-served virtual queue for The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away. You will need to enter your mobile phone number and first name. You will receive an approximate wait time.

Enjoy the rest of the museum! You will receive a text message 10 minutes before your turn so that you have time to make your way to The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away.

Follow the instructions included in the text message and proceed to The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away. Ask any Visitor Services Associate (VSA) for help or directions.

Check in with the VSA at the room and wait in a short line for your turn. Enjoy!

2)  How to See Infinity Mirrored Room - "See Longing for Eternity"
Notice: This installation is a mirror-lined chamber with flashing LED lights that viewers look into. If you are uncomfortable with flashing lights and/or enclosed, dark spaces, please bypass this experience.

Longing for Eternity is located on the third floor of The Broad. Ask any Visitor Services Associate (VSA) for directions to this artwork. Once you have arrived at Longing for Eternity, join the short line to view the artwork, or ask any VSA for help.

Can I make an advance reservation to see "The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away"?
No. Due to limited capacity, the virtual queue for this artwork can be joined only after you are inside the museum.

How long do I have to check in at "The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away" after I receive my return text message?
You have 10 minutes to return and check in. After 10 minutes, staff will try to accommodate you depending on capacity. Your spot is not guaranteed.

How can I be sure I will be able to sign up to see "The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away"?
Entry cannot be guaranteed due to the first-come, first-served nature of the queue for The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away. For the best opportunity to see this artwork, make an advance reservation for one of the first timeslots of the day or join The Broad’s onsite standby line in the morning-"the earlier, the better.

I have a general admission reservation at 4 p.m. Can I enter earlier to sign up for "The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away"?
Earlier entry to the museum is not allowed. If you want to enter the museum earlier than the time indicated on your ticket, please try to make another reservation for an earlier time, arrive earlier in the day to gain access via the onsite standby line, or plan to come back at a future date to view the Infinity Mirror Rooms at The Broad.

How much does it cost to see the Infinity Mirror Rooms?
The Infinity Mirror Rooms are free and can be accessed with general admission or with paid special exhibition tickets, pending availability. However, tickets to the museum do not guarantee access to The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away. Once you enter the museum, visit the iPad kiosk in the lobby to join the first-come, first-served virtual queue for The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away.

Why do you use a virtual queuing system to see "The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away"?
The artist intended for this artwork to be experienced by a very small number of people at a time. As a result, the capacity for this artwork is extremely limited. There is not enough time for everyone who visits the museum each day to experience The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away. If you are unable to view this work during your visit, we encourage you to come back again.

Is this the same as "Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors"?
No, Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors was a limited engagement, traveling exhibition on view October 21, 2017-January 1, 2018, and is no longer on view at The Broad.

Since the 1960s, Yayoi Kusama has been creating Infinity Mirror Rooms that provoke a sense of boundlessness and transcendence through extreme repetition. Learn more.

What is the difference between the two Infinity Mirror Rooms?
Infinity Mirrored Room-"The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away, 2013, has been on view at The Broad since the museum opened in 2015. It is an immersive room that you enter inside for 45 seconds.

Longing for Eternity, 2017, is a new artwork on view at The Broad for the first time. It is a chamber that you look into through a porthole-like window.

Both can be experienced for up to 45 seconds.

How long will the Infinity Mirror Rooms be at The Broad?
The Infinity Mirror Rooms are part of the Broad collection. No end date has been announced for these artworks.

How long is the virtual queue for "The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away"?
Queues can be anywhere from 20 minutes to several hours, depending on the time you sign up.

I have sensitivities to flashing lights, or am uncomfortable with flashing lights and/or dark spaces.

These installations consist of mirror-lined spaces with flashing LED lights. One of the Infinity Mirror Rooms is a room that you enter inside with a door that closes behind you. These installations may trigger seizures for people with photosensitive epilepsy. Please bypass these experiences if you have sensitivities to flashing lights or dark, enclosed spaces.

When does the virtual queue for "The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away" close?
Virtual queues typically fill up for the day within 2-3 hours of the museum opening. On weekends and holidays, the queues may fill up more quickly. When the queues are full for the day, the iPad kiosk will automatically close.

Does the queue re-open? What if people don’t use their turn?
If space becomes available, the iPad kiosk will automatically re-open. Please visit the kiosk to check availability.

What if I don’t have a mobile phone?
You can sign up without a mobile phone number, but you will need to check in periodically with staff to find out when your turn is approaching.

How many people can enter at a time?
You can sign up for up to eight people at a time, however, the Infinity Mirror Rooms are designed to be viewed by 1-2 people at a time.

For The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away, visitors are invited to enter through a door into an immersive environment. For this artwork, a parent may enter with up to two children.

For Longing for Eternity, visitors are invited to look through windows into the mirror-lined chamber. This artwork has two adult-height windows and one child-height window.

Can I sign up more than once in a day?
Sign-ups are limited to one per day per person. Same day re-entry is not allowed.

How long do I get to view the Infinity Mirror Rooms?
You can view each Infinity Mirror Room for 45 seconds. Same day re-entry is not allowed.

Can my children view the Infinity Mirror Room(s)?
Yes. Children under 13 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Is photography allowed?
Photography is allowed, but we recommend you enjoy the artwork without your camera too!

Can I bring my group to see the Infinity Mirror Rooms?
No, due to the extreme capacity restrictions and time limits, bringing a group to the Infinity Mirror Rooms is not feasible. Please consider returning on your own to visit the Infinity Mirror Rooms.

My estimated wait time is several hours. Can I leave the museum and come back when it’s my turn?
Yes, show the text message asking you to return to a Visitor Services Associate, who will allow you to re-enter the museum. However, it is recommended you stay nearby since the wait time is only an estimate. Your turn may come up earlier than expected, and you will only have 10 minutes to return and check in when it is your turn.
