We’ve started our 15th year of business at Mel & Rose and would like to dedicate this year to Virginia Madsen for honoring us by hosting a private Sideways wine dinner in our climate controlled wine cellar and showroom. Like Ms. Madsen, it’s our many loyal customers, friends and the community for which we owe our success. And for them, we will continue striving to carry the best quality products and provide superior service for our current and future customers.

But, before looking to the future, let’s take a quick trip down memory lane.
It’s difficult not to long for the days when a bottle of Château Later 1929 sold for a meager $3.25, or you could take home a case of Château Meraux 1928 for $30.50. In 1950, you could buy Château Mouton-Rothschild 1945 for $2.25 a bottle, and today it sells for $12,000 a bottle. We still produce a catalog jammed pack with delicious, inexpensive gems to grace your table everyday.

At family-owned Mel & Rose, a lot has changed since our first years when the entire staff was made up of just three people. We produced one catalog in 1992, and mailed it to a couple of hundred friends and now our catalog goes out to thousands of clients. What began as a 1,200 square foot shop has expanded to include a 7,000 square foot, temperature controlled wine room. This includes a selection of more than 10,000 wines and champagnes from many different wineries and vintages. This selection represents the world’s finest growing regions from such diverse areas as California, Oregon, Washington, France, Italy, Spain, Hungary, Germany, Austria, New Zealand, Australia and Portugal.

Mel & Rose is a wonderfully unique store. We have a reputation unsurpassed for excellence in design and creativity of beautiful gift baskets. We maintain a warehouse stocked with thousands of items and are considered to be the ultimate source for fine imported and domestic wines, spirits, gourmet food items and specialty chocolates. Mel & Rose is paradise found for serious food enthusiasts. This website has been created in response to requests from Mel & Rose customers all over the globe who love to shop at our Los Angeles, California location. We offer a full-service Italian deli, catering and a selection of fine cheese and charcuterie.

Mel & Rose is a regular contributor of charities including Race for MS, Aids project L.A., Cystic Fibroses, National Kidney Foundation and Los Angeles Mission.

At every point in our growth, Mel & Rose has always focused on offering our clients exceptional quality, competitive pricing and the best selection possible. Despite the changes over the years, one thing has remained constant; we are still a business built on three simple principles: service, service and service. And we hope you will allow us to serve you! Reflecting on the past is nostalgic, but at Mel & Rose, rest assured, we’ll continue to look toward the future.
