The San Pedro Knights Traveling basketball club is one of the oldest continuing teams in Southern California and the oldest in the South Bay.

We currently operate 7 boys travel teams and 4 girls teams. We adhere to the AAU guidelines for age and grade level.

The boys teams are 10under/4th grade, 11under/5th grade, 12under/6th grade, 13under/7th grade, 14under/8th grade; and High School Junior Varsity and High School Varsity divisions.

We have recently started a girls division which fields teams at the 11under/5th grade, 12under/6th grade, 13under/7th grade, and 14under/8th grade.

The Knights began in 1984 in the city of San Pedro, California.  It started with one team that was made up of a group of All-Stars from Bogdonovich Park. It has steadily grown over the years to its present state.

The Knights pride themselves on producing solid high school players. Indeed, many of our boys have gone on to college (Division 1 and below) and we were fortunate enough to have one drafted into the NBA with the Seattle Supersonics.

Our real accomplishment, though, is the ability to produce players that have outstanding high school careers, both as athletes and scholars. We strive to make All-City, All-CIF and Player of the Year an attainable goal for all of our players and we have been extremely successful to have accomplished this achievement many times over. We have regular grade checks and of equal importance is the citizenship mark. It is the goal of the Knights to produce men of honor and integrity as well.

We have a Junior Knight program for both boys and girls which start at age 7 and ends at age 9. With these fundamentals, the youngsters are now ready to begin travel ball at 10.

With the professional league now drafting high school seniors and the colleges scouting down to the 12 year old level, the youth of today have sadly lost much of the ability to experiment in other sports and are more and more are being forced to specialize.

We on the Knights have dedicated ourselves to the policy of flexibility when it comes to the options of the young player. Taking into account the need to continually grow in the fundamentals and to play at a dictated high level, we really work with the athlete and his/her parents to find the time to fit everything they desire to participate in.

We invite all players, both boys and girls, to come and see if they are ready for travel ball.

It is our stated philosophy to make every player who comes to us better than even they thought they could be.

We do not recruit and we do not sacrifice what is important just for the sake of winning.

Some just look to collect talent and venture forth just to win.

We prefer to take hard working kids and turn them into what other clubs would love to steal.
