Founded in 1929, JACL is the nation's oldest and largest Asian American civil and human rights organization with a 19,000 membership base. JACL has 112 chapters nationwide, five regional offices, eight district offices, a Washington, D.C. office, and a national headquarters in San Francisco. JACL's mission is to secure and up hold the human and civil rights of Japanese Americans and all Americans while preserving our cultural heritage and values.

Las Vegas Chapter
The Las Vegas Chapter of the JACL has been in existence since 1968. It was originally named the� 'Japanese American Club' and became part of the National JACL several years later.
The Las Vegas JACL is doing it's part in helping to accomplish JACL's mission by initiating and participating in events such as the International Food & Folk Life Festival, Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, Hawaiian Luau, and the Mochitsuki. It also sponsors the Kaminari Taiko Group, the Minyo Dancers, and the Annual Bill Endow Scholarships, which honors and recognizes outstanding students from JACL families. JACL members come from all races and cultures - - Japanese ancestry is not required.
