As a resident of New York since 1990, Akiko Yano has been playing gigs in NYC regularly; however, she hasn’t performed on the West Coast for a few decades. With an upcoming rare appearance in Los Angeles at the JACCC Aratani Theatre, Yano will perform solo, sing, and play the piano.

Akiko Yano is looking forward to sharing her music with fans who have been waiting for a long time and with a new generation.

About Akiko Yano 
Akiko Yano is a renowned Japanese pianist and singer known for her eclectic style, blending jazz, pop, and traditional Japanese music. Born in Tokyo in 1955, she moved to New York City in the late 1970s, where she collaborated with prominent musicians like Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays. Her debut album, "Japanese Girl" (1976), exemplifies her innovative approach, combining contemporary and traditional elements. Over her prolific career, Yano has released numerous albums, showcasing her versatility and creativity, and has worked extensively with artists such as Ryuichi Sakamoto.

Yano's live performances are celebrated for their energy and spontaneity, reflecting her deep connection with both the piano and her audience. She has toured globally, performing in prestigious venues and gaining a dedicated following. Beyond her solo work, she has contributed to various film scores and soundtracks, cementing her status as a significant cultural figure in Japan and internationally.
